Mike Oliver has earned a fine reputation for his unique talents as a wood smith. His tables, furniture and carvings have been shipped all over the world both through galleries and direct sales. The shop is located in beautiful North Idaho. Guests are welcome to visit the shop and take a complete tour of the facilities.

Robert Michael (Mike) Oliver was born in Silver City New Mexico, in 1952. At the age of ten his family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he grew up. He went to college and majored in art at UNLV.

In 1971, Mike traveled down the West Coast, from Seattle to San Diego, on a ten speed bike. On that journey of self discovery, he also developed a profound love of nature's beauty, especially while traveling through the giant Redwoods of Northern California. Later that same year, he purchased his first small rough cut slab of Redwood, and began teaching himself the art that he has grown to love.

Through the years, Mike traveled and took on what jobs came his way, until he finally settled down in Las Vegas again. He spent a number of years as a Union Carpenter, squeezing out whatever time he could to pursue his wood working. Even then he gained a local reputation as a talented artist.

Since 1991, Mike has made his home, with his wife and children, in Northern Idaho. There, what began as a hobby, has developed into a prospering and fulfilling occupation, leaving time for his family, friends and religious pursuits.
